Renee Lewis Bio
Renee’s experience spans several decades and includes her tenure as a Managing Partner at Bloomfield Capital, a direct lender and investor in commercial real estate around the country, where she led the Deal team overseeing underwriting and closing, as well as a significant portion of the firm’s asset management department, for over eight years of significant growth. Prior to forming VarCap, Renee was a Principal and Managing Director at Hudson Realty Capital LLC for nearly a decade. Her expertise includes real estate due diligence, process development, asset management, distressed debt acquisitions (particularly loan portfolios), and customized advisory assignments. Renee previously founded and ran Questor, a due diligence and consulting firm based in Portland that provided services to major institutional and government clients, in the 1990s.
A graduate of Duke University, she is an acknowledged industry leader and has been named a “Woman of Influence” by Real Estate New York three times, and Director Emeritus by the Maine Real Estate Development Association (MEREDA).
Committed to building businesses and community in Maine, Renee is a commissioner of MaineHousing, the state’s housing authority, and a member of the board and former Treasurer of the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute which provides outstanding programming for high school girls throughout Maine. She has also served as a board member, president, and co-chair of the capital campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine; board member and chair of Avesta, the state’s largest non-profit affordable housing developer; board member and president of MEREDA; as well as other area organizations. She is a proud mother, an avid equestrian, and lives with her husband and wolfhounds in Maine.
